Develop, Production, and Post Production Instruction by Eduardo Carmona
Pre-Viz™ is an independently developed, open-source film pre-visualization platform
designed to democratize access to professional production planning tools in
under-resourced educational settings. Drawing on my experience as a film educator
at LMU and CSUDH, I identified a critical equity gap: the industry-standard tools
used to teach shot planning and lighting design carry annual licensing fees that
exclude the majority of the global student population. Pre-Viz™ addresses this
directly — a single-file, browser-native application requiring no installation,
no account, and no cost, with full offline functionality and native support for
English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese. Its integrated AI teaching assistant,
Lux, applies Socratic pedagogy to guide students through cinematographic
decision-making in real time. The project holds three registered U.S. Copyrights
and an active USPTO trademark, and is currently deployed in student testing.
